Dr. Bill Kinney, DVM, DABVP
Dr. Bill Kinney, DVM, DABVP started and owned a large, general and private veterinary practice for 20 years. Today he, his wife Elizabeth, and his team, perform surgeries and medical consultations for veterinarians in North Georgia. The practice is based in Marietta, Ga.
He and Elizabeth realized their lifelong dream of owning a highly specialized practice when they created and opened this referral hospital in 2012. They named it North Georgia VRP. Today, Dr. Kinney and the entire team perform surgeries and medical consultations for veterinarians seeking excellence and experience with a hands-on approach rarely seen today. Dr. Kinney and Elizabeth live in a home behind the practice when there are patients in the hospital. Their home is in West Cobb County, but they stay with their patients from admission to discharge in acute situations.
Along with his extensive experience in medicine and surgery, Dr. Kinney is a Diplomate of the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners. He is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Georgia Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, and American Association of Feline Practitioners.
Elizabeth Kinney, RN TNS – Registered Nurse, Trauma Nurse Specialist
Elizabeth (Liz) is Dr. Kinney’s wife and opened North Georgia VRP with her husband in 2012. She is a Registered Nurse and Trauma Nurse Specialist with experience as a flight nurse in both helicopter and fixed wing emergent and intensive care transports both locally and internationally for over 30 years.
Now she practices exclusively in the practice specializing in the day to day operations and in charge of the administration of anesthesia for patients requiring diagnostic or surgical procedures. She and Dr. Kinney have known each other since childhood and planned the practice when they both were in college. They met on weekends on the square of Marietta to build the dream. They had a dream that would take decades to realize as both needed the years of experience behind them to perform on the level required in a referral practice. That dream was realized in 2012 with the opening of North Georgia VRP.
Together they have 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 cockatiels, and many deer and other wildlife on their property in West Cobb. They also enjoy having a home just behind the practice where they stay when there are patients in the hospital. This way the animals are cared for 24 hours a day as needed.
