Appointment Request

 Appointment Information:

Patients are often referred to North Georgia VRP by their family veterinarians but is not required. If your family veterinarian does make the referral he/she will either provide you with a completed referral form to bring with you at the time of your appointment or the referral form will be faxed or emailed prior to your appointment date. The referral form describes your pet’s problem, lists medications that your pet is taking and includes all relevant diagnostic and laboratory test results. Radiographs may also either be sent via email or may be brought by you on a CD disc or thumb drive.

Whether you are referred by your family veterinarian or if you decide to call us directly, we will need to schedule an appointment. Appointments with Dr. Kinney are generally between the hours of 1:00p.m. and 8:00p.m., Monday through Friday. If you are unable to make an appointment between these hours, we will be happy to work around your schedule. Don’t delay, please schedule your appointment as soon as possible for your pet’s wellbeing. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please give us at least a 24-hour notice, we also will be most happy to reschedule your appointment for your convenience.

Appointment Day:

Be sure to bring all relevant information, including the completed Referral Form if you have been given one. If you have not been given a form, we will be happy to contact your family veterinarian for the needed information.

For the safety of all please be sure to bring your pet on a leash or in a carrier. If you do forget we will be glad to provide one for you.

Many procedures and tests require a light sedation, should this be the case for your pet we will give you specific instructions prior to your appointment regarding food intake and/or medication administration.

When You Arrive:

After you check in with the receptionist, Dr. Kinney will meet with you and your pet. A physical examination will be performed on your pet, a complete medical history will be taken and your pet’s condition will be evaluated. Dr. Kinney may also perform additional examinations or diagnostic tests in one of our diagnostic areas.
